Search & Share With The Media Exchange

The MediaCAST Media Exchange is new for Version 11. It hosts thousands of free titles, and lets users upload and download cloud-shared content. The Media Exchange can be searched right from your MediaCAST platform interface. Exchange-hosted files can be located and downloaded to your digital library with just a few clicks, and once in your digital library, these files can be used just like all of your other resources. The Media Exchange will make a note of all previously downloaded files to help prevent repeat file downloading.

Media Exchange content could be digital media that has an expired copyright and is therefore free to use in the US.  Project Gutenburg is an example of such a library, with over 9,000 copyright free eBooks. The Media Exchange comes pre-loaded with the entire Gutenburg library. Exchange content can also come from other MediaCAST users across the US who have uploaded their user-generated content to the Exchange.

Many K12 districts and Higher Education institutions are using the Media Exchange to participate in collaborative instruction. For example, a 6th grade History teacher in Pennsylvania developed a video, quizzes and documents to help teach her class about the 1920s. She took that video file, the quizzes and handouts and uploaded them all to the Media Exchange.

A teacher in California, not as knowledgeable on that particular era, searched the Exchange for 1920s teaching materials, found the first teacher's resources and downloaded them for use in her class. In the future, the second teacher may come up with an innovative media project idea for her students and share the results to the Exchange. Other teachers will see her project and may be inspired to use with their students.
